Improve Your Campaign #1 – Shoot with Your Cell Phone

Shoot with your cell phone

Are you missing the fancy camera but still want to shoot your own video?

It’s not Hollywood movie quality, but you probably have a camera in your pocket that can do the job. Your cell phone!

There are just a few things to keep in mind to be sure your filming is the best it can be.

#1 – Landscape. Most importantly, shoot in landscape. You are not making the most of your video real estate when you shoot in portrait.

#2 – Find a friend (or a tripod). Have someone else shoot the video for you or use a tripod. Filming yourself tends to lead to unframed shaky footage.

#3 – Lighting and sound. Be sure that your scenes are well lit and the filming area is quiet. Shooting outdoors on a day with flat light (clouds) is the easiest lighting solution, but steer clear of bustling areas to avoid distracting noise.

#3a – If you are going to shoot inside, be conscious of shadows. Your lighting is going to create shadows and hard shadows look bad. They can generally be avoided by having a 5 foot gap you and your background.

Now you’re ready to film your video, get out there and do it!
